The Wolf Kahn Foundation has opened a permanent space in New York City to house the artist's archives. Located at 134 West 26th Street, the foundation and archives will be open by appointment starting August 24, one year before what would have been Kahn's centennial in October 2027.

This is the first designated center for scholarship on Kahn, who died in 2020. The collection includes early studies, letters, lectures, publications, and photographs, offering researchers access to materials that trace his career.

Ellen McCulloch-Lovell, president of the foundation and a friend of Kahn, noted that while Kahn spent half the year on a farm in Vermont, he always returned to his studio in New York. She described him as a "Second Generation, New York School artist," reflecting his deep ties to the city.

Kahn, a refugee from Nazi Germany, studied at the Hans Hofmann School and later taught at Cooper Union. He also helped organize the Hansa Gallery, a cooperative gallery that played a role in the New York art scene.

The foundation's move establishes a permanent presence in the city, supporting ongoing study of Kahn's work for scholars and the public alike.
