Barclays has appointed Wee Yee-Yeong as head of private bank for Singapore and Asia. He will be based in Singapore and take up the role later this year.

Regional Mandate

In the post, Yee-Yeong will oversee the lender's private banking operations in Singapore while taking charge of a regional strategy alongside the private bank's broader distribution teams serving international Asian clients.

He joins from Morgan Stanley, where he serves as chief executive and head of sales for the bank's Singapore wealth management business. His experience spans more than 20 years in wealth management, including advising ultra-high-net-worth clients and managing teams across Asia Pacific.

Earlier roles included senior leadership and client-facing positions at Bank of Singapore, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, UBS Wealth Management and Merrill Lynch.

Yee-Yeong succeeds Alexander Harrison, who has been interim head of private bank Singapore.

The appointment follows the launch of Barclays Private Bank's Singapore booking centre earlier this month.

Booking Centre and Strategy

Barclays Asia Pacific CEO Jaideep Khanna described Asia Pacific as strategically important to the bank and Singapore as central to its long-term growth ambitions, noting that the Singapore booking centre marked a significant milestone in that strategy.

In India, the private bank will continue to be led by Adrish Ghosh, who will keep reporting directly to Annabelle Bryde, head of private bank international.

Yee-Yeong said he looks forward to deepening client relationships across the bank and supporting the international needs of entrepreneurs, family offices and globally connected clients in the region.

The appointment does not affect the reporting line for the India business, which remains unchanged.
