Aspen Standard Wealth Expands RIA Network

Aspen Standard Wealth has acquired Cullen Investment Group, a registered investment adviser based in Lafayette, Louisiana, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition adds more than $1bn in assets under management to Aspen's network of affiliated RIAs, according to the source material.

Cullen Investment Group: A Legacy Firm

Founded in 1986, Cullen operates as the sole locally owned and run full-service brokerage in Lafayette, Louisiana. The firm has been an independent wealth manager regulated by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, providing full-service wealth management and RIA services.

The acquisition adds over $1bn in assets under management to Aspen's affiliated RIA network.

Strategic Expansion Through Acquisitions

This acquisition follows Aspen's recent purchases of other RIAs. In August, Aspen acquired Denver Private Wealth Management, a Denver-based advisory business with approximately $550m in client assets. Denver PWM, established in 2014, advises affluent families, company owners, and senior executives.

Earlier in the year, in March, Aspen acquired BlueSky Wealth Advisors, an RIA based in New Bern, North Carolina. BlueSky, founded in 1999, oversees $1bn in assets and focuses on investment management and financial planning, including tax strategies, passive income, and legacy planning.

Leadership Perspectives

Cullen principal Stephen Nickel said, “We are excited to partner with Aspen to build upon our legacy as an independent wealth management firm that is focused on providing our clients with a truly holistic experience. That commitment to our clients will never change.”

Aspen CEO Aly Kassim-Lakha said, “The team at Cullen has built an incredible wealth management offering that places client best interests at the center of everything they do. We look forward to providing them with additional resources and capabilities to build upon that foundation and to continue to serve their clients with exemplary care for decades to come.”

Implications for the Wealth Management Sector

The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation within the RIA space, as larger entities seek to integrate independent firms with substantial assets. For family offices and private clients, such moves may affect the range of services and resources available, though the long-term impact on client experience remains to be seen.

Aspen provides investment advisory services through its network of affiliated RIAs. The acquisition of Cullen Investment Group is part of this strategy, though specific financial terms were not disclosed.
